Released initially during what some would consider the "golden age" of first-person shooters, Modern Warfare 2 set the standard back in 2009. With cinematic action set-pieces, fluid controls, and frenetic shooting sequences, this Call of Duty title arrived at the height of the franchise's popularity. This version allows players to relive all the classic action but with improved visual fidelity for even more immersion. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered includes a story-driven single-player campaign that takes gamers worldwide in a quest to stop a global threat. With nicely rendered cut-scenes and strong voice acting, this title's characters come to life. From snowy mountain peaks to the infamous airport scene, many have heralded Modern Warfare 2 with advancing the first-person shooting genre.

This remastered version of the game improves visual clarity with high-definition textures and models. As video game technology has advanced, the outdated visuals have received an upgrade using several modern graphical effects. The audio has also noticeably improved, so players can take full advantage of a high-end speaker or headphone system. Modern Warfare 2 Remastered includes many previously unavailable in-game items, some from the 2019 title and popular multiplayer off-shoot Warzone. You can choose new characters and select available blueprints that help build more powerful in-game weapons.

One of the hallmarks of the Call of Duty franchise is the increasingly challenging difficulty levels that range from Recruit to the imposing Realism setting. Not only do helpful HUD elements disappear from view as you increase the difficulty level, but your character also becomes much more vulnerable. In the Realism setting, the opposing forces employ exceedingly more effective tactics toward your character, so much so that completing the game at this level is considered an achievement.

Only Single-Player

Unfortunately, you won't be able to relive the crazy multiplayer maps from the original game with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. It also is missing the spectacular Spec Ops mode, which allowed players to team up with friends to tackle different scenarios and battle the challenging juggernaut enemies.
